The eIDAS Touch: AU10TIX Launches EU eIDAS 2.0 Compliance Validation Process

Table of Contents

Let’s start with some basics: eIDAS (electronic Identification, Authentication, and trust Services) is the European Union’s regulation created to establish a framework for electronic transactions in the European Single Market.

eIDAS 2.0 represents a fundamental shift in how digital identity works across Europe. As the framework for European Digital Identity Wallets takes shape, organizations providing identity verification and trust services must navigate new compliance requirements which will form the next decade of digital trust infrastructure.

Why are we telling you this?

Because AU10TIX is in the process of validating compliance with eIDAS 2.0, working with TÜV Austria (an EU-accredited Conformity Assessment Body) as part of our ongoing commitment to regulatory alignment and to our role in supporting secure digital identity ecosystems in Europe and beyond.

The importance of eIDAS 2.0 to digital identity

The eIDAS 2.0 regulation expands on previous regulation by introducing the European Digital Identity Wallet, which enables EU citizens and businesses to securely identify themselves and share verified attributes across borders. For organizations operating in regulated sectors like financial services, telecommunications, and digital commerce, understanding how identity verification integrates with this ecosystem is critical to their day-to-day operations and future growth.

eIDAS 2.0 establishes technical standards, security requirements, and audit frameworks for trust service providers. It also creates clear expectations around identity assurance levels, data protection, and cross-border interoperability. For enterprises selecting identity verification partners, alignment with these standards signals technical maturity and long-term regulatory readiness.

AU10TIX’s approach to regulation and trust infrastructure

At AU10TIX, we don’t believe in handling regulatory compliance on special events or as a checklist exercise. For us, it is a continuous commitment to the trust layer our customers rely on and expect. We believe in constantly monitoring the ecosystem and anticipating regulatory changes. This approach enables us to invest early in the capabilities, processes, and partnerships that provide sustainable compliance.

Initiating the eIDAS 2.0 validation process reflects this philosophy. Rather than waiting for regulatory deadlines or market pressure, we’re proactively engaging with the validation framework to understand requirements, demonstrate capabilities, and support our customers’ European operations as the regulation matures.

eIDAS 2.0 is added onto our existing certifications and regulatory alignments, including SOC 2, ISO27001, and NIST 800-63A and various industry-specific compliance frameworks. For us, eIDAS 2.0 is not an isolated initiative but another instance of operating at the highest standards of security, privacy, and regulatory accountability.

Everything you need to know about the validation process

Far from a simple certification, the eIDAS 2.0 validation process involves detailed technical assessments, security evaluations, process audits, and documentation reviews conducted by accredited third parties. It is a tenuous, structured engagement designed to verify that systems, processes, and controls meet the regulation’s requirements.

For us, this process includes evaluating our identity verification technologies, security infrastructure, data handling practices, and operational procedures against eIDAS 2.0 and ETSI TS 119 461 standards. Our goal is to demonstrate that our platform can deliver the level of assurance and protection that European regulations demand and get our customers ready for it before the deadline.

This is a dynamic process. We’re working methodically through the validation requirements, and we’re committed to transparency about where we are in this journey.

Working with TÜV Austria

As most of you readers know, TÜV Austria is an accredited Conformity Assessment Body for eIDAS, one of the first in Europe being fully accredited under eIDAS 2.0. As such, TÜV Austria is authorized to evaluate organizations against the regulation’s technical and security requirements. We’re working closely with TÜV Austria for this validation effort, relying on its expertise in European digital identity frameworks and accreditation status. This collaboration reflects the importance we give to working with recognized authorities and subjecting our systems to rigorous, independent evaluation.

What this means for AU10TIX customers

Enterprises operating in Europe or serving European customers should prioritize partnering with identity verification providers who understand and align with eIDAS 2.0. While the regulation is still being implemented and technical standards continue to evolve, being proactive and preparing early can make a real difference.

For AU10TIX customers, this initiative means:

Regulatory Alignment: We’re investing in understanding and meeting European digital identity standards, reducing future integration risk as the ecosystem matures.

Transparency: We’re committed to clear communication about our compliance status and progress, without overclaiming or creating false expectations.

Long-Term Partnership: As eIDAS 2.0 implementation progresses, we’ll continue adapting our capabilities to support our customers’ evolving needs in the European market.

Global Standards: The rigor of eIDAS 2.0 validation benefits customers globally, not just in Europe. Meeting these standards demonstrates operational excellence that translates across jurisdictions.

Onward and upward

The eIDAS 2.0 validation process is ongoing, and we’ll continue sharing updates as we progress through its stages. We believe transparency about regulatory work is essential, especially in an industry built on trust.

As digital identity frameworks evolve globally, from Europe’s eIDAS to emerging standards in other regions, we’ll continue investing in the expertise, infrastructure, and partnerships needed to meet the highest standards.

We’ll share more updates on our eIDAS 2.0 validation as it progresses. In the meantime, if you have questions about how this work relates to your organization’s needs, our team is ready to discuss how AU10TIX supports compliant, secure identity verification in Europe and everywhere.
